evoWater is a Hungarian innovation, the first prototype has been constructed in 2014.
evolutionWater Kft was established in 2017 to promote and introduce the technology to the market. Our researchers have experience in irrigation and water management, industrial use of water and alimentation.
Quality of crops
Overall quality of crops improves, including internal content, transportability, extended shelf time, healthiness etc, that can be quantified through the decreasing cost of non marketable products, as well as the decreased cost of chemicals and drugs used.
Increased sugar content, BRIX values obtained, better look and taste, healthier plants will lead to better customer satisfaction. Brix itself determines the market price of crops produced, higher value can be obtained form the same land.
Quality of life
Improvement in quality and internal content leads to its antioxidant-, trace elements and vitamine content. Increased transportability makes possible to reach more people in geographically disperse areas, without compromising on the quality of the products.
Apart form increased profitability, there is a huge economic and social potential in the potential to increase quality of products while decreasing prodcution prices at the same time, extending the customer base.
Considerably better and healthier products may become available to low income segments of the population.
The above may have significant implications on social conditions, food supply és public health.
With less food waste, less land is needed to produce the quantity of products needed for a given population.
Macro-economic implications
Efficiency of irrigation influences directly the efficiency and costs of water management, including the quantity of water used, energy consumption of irrigation processes, investment and running casts of equipment used, labour costs etc.
On the other hand, increased yield may be obtained with less investment and operating costs. Costs related to regeneration of land is decreased through the decrease of environmental stress due to production.
Yield can be increased without major investment in equipment, bioengineering, chemical products or additional labour costs.
Reliability on import can be reduced and/or export capabilities can be increased.
CO2 quotas can be met more easily, or leave room for quota management.
The introduction of evoWater into agriculture processes is a modest investment compared to macro level gains obtainable.
Small producers, biocultures
The agricultural landscape of a country typically includes a number of small producers, active primarily on the local market. On the other hand, every country relies extensively on domestic products, that constitute a key element in the food supply chain, especially in low income segments of the population.
Cost is an even important factor in primeur products. Such products become available to a larger protion of the populaton
As the use of evoWater involves no stress on the environment, it can be used to bbost the competitiveness of biocultures. evoWater received the bioculture certificate from Biokontroll Hungary.
Decreasing stress on the environment
More intensive agriculture leads to climate change, desertification, decreasing water supplies, excessive use of fertilizers and chemicals that in turn overload the soil.
This process may be further aggravated in countries expecting demographic boom.
evoWater is not a miracle tool, but more efficient irrigation and water management, coupled with decreasing stress on the environment is an opportunity to tackle several problems at the same
time.
This may be primarily significant in areas where plant health, production costs, available water supplies are at critical levels. In such cases irrigation efficiency is not only a question of profitability, but a decisive factor to address social and environmental challenges.
Todays agriculture faces new challenges: demographic stress and environmental constraints represent can be addressed only through sustainable solutions.
Major trends include the continuous deterioration of soil, introducing sustainable crop production in more exteme environments, and mitigation of climate change through better CO2 absorption capabilities. evoWater may make a contribution in all three areas.
Soil and irrigation infrastructure
According to experience in Pilot installations, soil regeneration processes and biodiversity improved significantly (especially with regard to humus and bacteria) following irrigation with treated water.
Crops defensive mechanisms and health improved, and could lead to abandoning partly or totally the use of chemical based treatment.
On the other hand, chemical based scale removal, cleaning of irrigation equipment becomes unnecessary, as scale formation is limited, minerials are used directly by the crops.
Scale removal technologies available on the market are much less efficient, most can be applied up to 1 col pipes.
Global reach
EvoWater can be deployed in various economic and social environment, under different climate and water management conditions.
It does not require skilled labour, maintenance need is minimal.
EvoWater can contribute to both state of the art and under developed production facilities.
EvoWater can be used as an efficient water management tool.
RESEARCH
R&D is focused on three areas, with the partnership of academic and industry partners:
– optimising and calibrating evoWater to various crops, waters, climate conditions. Building a database of best practices and calibration.
– scientific analysis of underlying internal processes
– optimising production, scaling up and maintenability.
